Don’t forget to take your binoculars to the nearby Goleta Slough, where you’re likely to spot egrets, herons, and other stunning bird species. Nearby Ellwood Butterfly Preserve is home to the monarch migration each year, with millions of gorgeous butterflies lining the limbs of the eucalyptus, fig, and coast oak trees.
